Just a few notes concerning some of our procedures:
Anyone may hike with our group; however, we have a few guidelines you should keep in mind when hiking with our group.
• Hikers must not use/consume alcohol or tobacco when participating on a hike.
• Hikers must be responsible for themselves. Each hiker should have appropriate clothing, footwear, water, snacks and other supplies depending on the hike conditions. Please read hike descriptions and make sure the hike is within your capability, but keep in mind we are not power hikers. Our priorities are to enjoy the scenery, take pictures, and visit with each other; therefore, we don’t set a blistering pace.
• Hikers should be considerate of the group.
o Please arrive on time to the meetup. We don’t wait on anyone.
o Let us know if you’re coming, or if you can’t make it. If we know we have everyone at the meetup spot, we go ahead and leave for the trailhead.
o Be prepared to drive your vehicle. Carpools are informally decided at the meetup.
o Once on the trail, make an effort to stay with the group. Wait at trail junctions before continuing. Communicate with the group if you are taking a break. Hike out with the group when the decision is made to return to the trailhead parking area.
- Weather-- Weather may affect hiking schedules at times. The hike leader is responsible for postponing a hike if severe or undesirable weather is forecast. Please check the Facebook page or this blog if you are unsure about a hike. Any hike schedule alteration will be announced on this blog and the Facebook page by 10 PM on the evening prior to the hike.
- Meet Ups--The park and ride area on Highway 58 at Dot, JMS, and PMS have been designated as meet up spots for hikes. Please let us know if you plan to be at the meetup or are meeting us at the trailhead. We leave promptly at the designated time.
